Computer Company Participates in Live Microsoft Webinar About Emergency Update
07/29/2009
Microsoft has released a critical security bulletin regarding a vulnerability in Internet Explorer. An emergency live webinar was called yesterday for all Microsoft Partners, during which Microsoft conveyed the importance of applying this patch to every computer running the Windows operating system without exception (even if Internet Explorer is not your primary web browser). This specific vulnerability would allow a hacker to gain unrestricted access to your server or workstation and perform a variety of malicious activities ranging from theft of information all the way to complete system crash.
If you are an Entech customer covered under an active Service Agreement, there is no need to worry. Deployment of this patch is already completed on most clients and is underway for the remaining servers and computers under our umbrella. If you are not covered under one of Entech’s Service Agreements it is absolutely vital that you have this patch applied to your server or workstation as soon as possible.
Customers with Servers: It is highly recommended that you contact us immediately for patch deployment on your most vital systems.
Customers without Servers: It is recommended that you download all Windows Updates immediately. To do this open Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Windows Update and attempt the updates from there.
If you have issues with this process please feel free to call our help desk at (800) 573-0234 for additional support. Even if you think the patch may be installed already, it is never a bad idea to have an experienced technician take a look at your workstation to ensure it is up to date with all security patches for both Microsoft and other third party applications.
